Quick Answer

  • Modernize from Strategy Web to Strategy Library without rebuilding everything. Library now covers many of the workflows that historically kept teams on Web, from Personal Views and subscriptions to browser-based authoring and Workstation.

  • Access Strategy’s latest analytics and AI capabilities. Explorer, Mosaic Studio, Agents, and MCP are delivered through Library and build on governed business definitions from the Mosaic Universal Semantic Layer.

  • Migrate in phases. Start with the users and workflows already well covered in Library, validate the experience, and expand from there.

Strategy Library now covers the workflows that kept many teams on legacy Web, from power-user report authoring to Documents-style dashboards and full subscription parity. It is also the only way into Strategy's newest AI and Mosaic capabilities. Here is what has changed, why it matters for your users, and how Amica Insurance made the move, including the people side of change.

Why now

Legacy Strategy Web is no longer receiving enhancements. Every new capability, including AI, agents, Mosaic, and the latest dashboard features, is built for Library and reached through it. Users who stay on Web fall a little further behind with every release.

Library also gives users a better day-to-day experience:

  • Personalized: curated home screens through Applications, Content Groups, and Bookmarks, plus Smart Search ranked by usage and popularity
  • Secure and compliant: built to modern security, embedding, and accessibility standards
  • Faster: dashboard execution and incremental rendering improvements that apply only in Library

The question used to be "can our users do their work in Library?" For most teams, the answer now is yes.

Your Web workflows, covered in Library

Library now includes the capabilities customers most often told us kept them on Web.

If your users rely on this in WebIn Library today
Personal ViewsThey open in Library and convert to Bookmarks with one click
Subscriptions and exportsFTP and file delivery, CSV and text formats, every Web export setting, plus delivery to Google Sheets and Google Drive
Creating filters, metrics, prompts, and custom groupsPower users create standalone objects in Library and find them in folder browsing
Drilling through the hierarchy to build reportsData Explorer: browse attributes, their elements, and child attributes, then drag them to the grid or report filter
Developer or desktop WorkstationWorkstation Web, launched from Library and governed by each user's privileges and ACLs
Documents and transactionsDocument and HyperCard editors in Library; Form Transactions and row-sets for financial reporting in Dashboards
Multi-window analysisOpen objects in separate browser tabs, search and page attribute elements in the filter editor, and edit objects without leaving the editor
Relative datesDynamic Dates (last week, month, year) in filters and value parameter selectors
Multi-chapter appsAn in-canvas navigation pane and table of contents with ready-made styles
Excel and PowerPointExcel, PowerPoint, Google Sheets, and Google Slides add-ins that connect through Library

Why does Data Explorer matter? It brings a familiar Web workflow into the Library report editor. One retail customer reuses class numbers such as 100, 200, and 300 across every department. By drilling from department to class, report authors see only the classes that belong to that department, so they find the right one quickly and build accurate reports with confidence.

Dashboards also gained new visuals, including Gantt charts, benchmark sliders, KPI variance thresholds, and a guideline that follows your cursor across line and area charts.

AI and Mosaic start in Library

Explorer, the Auto capabilities, and Mosaic Studio are reached only through Library. They build on the Mosaic semantic layer, so the business definitions you govern once carry into every AI experience. so the business definitions you govern once carry into every AI experience.

  • Explorer: released in September 2026, a single conversational entry point in Library. Users ask questions of agents, Mosaic models, and cubes, follow recommended questions, generate HTML reports and dashboards, send emails, upload unstructured files, and connect to external tools through MCP.
  • Auto capabilities: Auto Dashboard speeds up dashboard building, Auto Narratives explains the key insights in a dashboard, Auto Answers handles the questions a dashboard doesn't, and Auto Agent delivers agents with your own instructions.
  • Mosaic Studio: the next-generation modeling tool, with AI-assisted model generation.
  • Mosaic Universal Semantic Layer: governed, explainable definitions shared across Strategy, AI assistants, Excel and PowerPoint, and developer tools.
  • Strategy MCP Server: connects Claude, Gemini, ChatGPT, Copilot, and other MCP clients to your agents and Mosaic models, and now to your Intelligent Cubes and MTDI cubes. The cubes your teams built for Web reporting can feed AI assistants too.

The people side: Amica's blueprint

Capabilities are only half of a successful move. The other half is helping users trust the new experience and adopt it.

Amica Insurance, a personal lines carrier founded in 1907, supports more than 1,000 Strategy users across 22 offices. Their use cases range from monthly and regulatory reporting to one-on-one coaching with HyperCards and daily operational subscriptions. Cory Cloutier, BI Manager at Amica, built their approach around three elements:

  • Five tactics Amica used to influence adoption
  • Dashboard standards that make content consistent and trustworthy, such as certified reports, assigned report owners, consistent branding, and clear PII and security rules
  • Change management lessons on helping users embrace the transition instead of resisting it

Frequently Asked Questions

For most teams, yes. Library now supports many of the workflows that historically kept customers on Web, including Personal Views, subscriptions and exports, standalone object authoring, hierarchy-based data exploration, browser-based Workstation capabilities, Documents, and modern dashboard workflows. The right migration path still depends on the specific workflows each organization uses.

Legacy Strategy Web is no longer receiving enhancements. New analytics, Mosaic, AI, and browser-based capabilities are being delivered through Library, so moving users to Library gives them access to Strategy’s newest experiences.

Not necessarily. Many existing assets can continue to be used rather than rebuilt. For example, Web Personal Views can be opened in Library and converted to Bookmarks, and existing report-distribution workflows can increasingly be managed directly in Library. Intelligent Cubes and MTDI cubes can also be made available to newer AI experiences through MCP.
